Endoscopy
-
Depending on the type of procedure you are scheduled to have - your Endoscopist may require you to have a specialised diet and/or bowel preparation before you are admitted to the Day Hospital. Your surgeon will advise you if this is required, and supply you with the prescriptions. Once you have decided with your Endoscopist to attend the Coffs Day Hospital, you will be advised of an admission time and when to take any preparations necessary for your procedure. Each case may be different, so please confirm with your surgeon’s consulting rooms if you have any queries regarding these preparations.
You will need to be fasted for your procedure - this requires absolutely no foods for 6 hours prior, and only sips of water up until 2 hours prior to your procedures. Nothing is to be consumed (including lozenges, gum and fluids) during the two hour before your procedure.
-
Once you have arrived at the hospital, you will be required to sit in our reception area until you are collected by your admissions nurse. Once your admission is complete, you will be required to change into a gown, robe, foot covers and a hair cap. Wear comfortable clothing that you are happy to wear inside our facility. We ask that you remove all jewellery, nail polish and other accessories prior to your admission and give them to a family member or carer to look after until you arrive home.
-
You will not be required to bring anything other than payment method for any health fund excess, or to pay your full invoice if you are uninsured. Payment is taken upon checking into the hospital at our Reception area prior to your admission - our recommendation is that you leave all valuables at home or have it taken with your carer/driver after you have checked in with our administration staff. Any belongings you do have with you - including clothing, handbags and any jewellery you are wearing will be placed into a bag with your identification on it. This bag will follow you throughout each stage of your procedure and our staff will ensure you leave with all your belongings. We also have provisions for small valuables to be locked in our change rooms.
