Dr. Liam Lim
Dr Lim was born in Malaysia and arrived in Australia in 1993 as an overseas student. He commenced his studies in medicine at The University of Melbourne in 1994. In 2000, he graduated at the top of his medical school with First Class Honours, and was awarded the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Physicians Prize in Clinical Medicine.
In 2004, he was accepted into a 5 year training programme in Ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. After he completed his training as an eye surgeon, Dr Lim worked overseas to gain further experience. He spent a year in Oxford, United Kingdom where he worked with Dr John Salmon, an eminent British glaucoma specialist, specialising in glaucoma surgery and the management of glaucoma suspects and patients with severe glaucoma. He then pursued a fellowship at Bristol Eye Hospital in medical retinal diseases such as wet macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic eye disease. In 2010, he returned to Australia to work with Professor Ian McAllister in Perth, where Dr.Lim completed advanced training in retinal surgery.
Dr Lim has been practising in Coffs Harbour, Grafton and Macksville since 2011. He is committed to excellence in all aspects of ophthalmic surgery and medicine. In all these locations, Dr Lim has invested in state-of- the-art diagnostic equipment and laser machines so that country patients no longer need to travel for the tests and treatments they need. Patients can now have the latest technology cataract biometry and OCT in all locations. All ophthalmic lasers (YAG, SLT and Retinal photocoagulation) are available in all locations.
Dr Andrew Sutherland
Dr Andrew Sutherland is a specialist colorectal surgeon who has been working in Coffs Harbour since early 2009. Dr Sutherland graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1998. He completed his residency at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne and undertook Advanced Training in General Surgery at St Vincent's Hospital. In addition to the standard 4 year training program Andrew also spent a year in the United Kingdom broadening his general surgical experience. After being awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in general surgery in 2006 he was accepted into the post-fellowship colorectal surgery training program. This highly competitive program coordinated by the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) accepts only 5-10 new surgeons for training each year.
Dr Sutherland spent the first of the 2 year colorectal training scheme at Christchurch Hospital in New Zealand. This busy unit is the major New Zealand centre for recurrent rectal cancers and complex pelvic colorectal surgery. For the second year of training Andrew returned to St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne. This colorectal unit has major interests in laparoscopic surgery, surgery for inflammatory bowel disease and the treatment of functional pelvic floor disorders.
Andrew has also published papers on several general surgical and colorectal topics and presented research findings at international conferences. Andrew is dedicated to maintaining his specialist skills and knowledge as a colorectal surgeon and aims to provide the best of care for all of his patients.
Dr Kamala Kanta Das
Specialising in Upper GI, Bariatric, General and Advanced Endoscopic Surgery, Dr. Das is an expert in weight loss, hernia and gallbladder surgery as well as a wide range of general and upper gastrointestinal procedures at both Coffs Day Hospital and Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
Dr. Das has been trained at world class, highly specialised facilities such as the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and has undertaken additional training in minimal access surgery in France. He is passionate about providing specialised services to the locals in this region without the need of transferring patients to major hospitals in Sydney or Brisbane.
Furthermore, Dr. Das has a passion for teaching medical students, junior doctors and specialist doctors in training as a means of providing to his community through education and continual professional development.
Dr Quintin Wilson
Dr. Quintin has worked in a wide range of environments in the past, holding appointments as Clinical Consultant Hunter New England Local Health District, Consultant and Principal Dentist Teacher Health Fund and Lead Practitioner positions in private practice. He has also previously worked with the Department of Defence, and he is delighted to be returning to the Mid North Coast.
Born in Bellingen, he has degrees in Applied Science, Personnel Management and Dentistry, as well as a post graduate degree in Dental Implants. His primary area of interest is oral surgery, including wisdom teeth removal and he currently provides holds appointments at the Coffs Harbour, Kempsey and Port Macquarie Hospitals where he provides oral surgery services. Quintin also enjoys teaching oral surgery and regularly travels abroad to participate as an instructor in an Oral Surgery Course for dentists wanting to expand their skills in this area.
When not at work Quintin enjoys cycling, travel and spending time with his wife Sally, and his two boys, Jack and Harry.
Dr Darrin Marshall
Dr Darrin Marshall is an Australian trained orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in hip, knee and hand surgery.
Working in both private and public hospitals in the Coffs Harbour region for over 15 years, Dr Marshall is actively involved in the teaching and mentoring of orthopaedic trainee surgeons. He is also currently the Head of the Orthopaedic Department at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
Dr Marshall completed his medical degree at the University of Newcastle before going on to complete his orthopaedic training. Dr Marshall’s technical expertise go hand-in-hand with his passion for his profession and ability to meet the needs of his patients.
Dr Eileen Morrisroe
Dr Morrisroe is a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon. She has public hospital appointments with the Coffs Harbour Health Campus and Macksville Hospitals. Dr Morrisroe trained with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She further trained and performed research at Addenbrookes Hospital (Cambridge, UK) and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (Scotland, UK). With her focus on providing consistently high-quality individualised patient care, Dr Morrisroe specialises in minimally invasive treatments for arterial and venous disorders. She is passionate about patient care and holistic wellness.
Dr Morrisroe is the Director of Surgery for the Coffs Clinical Network. She is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer with Charles Stuart University and Conjoint Lecturer with the University of New South Wales.
Dr Morrisroe is experienced in all forms of vascular and endovascular surgery. This includes management of peripheral arterial disease (angioplasty, stenting, bypass surgery), wound care, aneurysms, carotid endarterectomy, diabetic foot management, varicose veins, dialysis access surgery, chemotherapy access (portacath insertion), temporal artery biopsy, and management of pelvic congestion syndrome (ovarian vein embolization).
